Solace Derval Freeman

My studio at the foot of the Sugarloaf in the Glen of the Downs Wicklow presents a most rewarding backdrop and has inspired my SOLACE for these past two years. I hope it reflects my passion. I devote it to all who seek a new way of seeing. ‘Solace’ will be exhibiting my most recent paintings together with my photography which were all influenced by my Wicklow surroundings.

My film photography will include 24 small ‘Instagram like’ black and white photographs. These were taken on my old antique Praktica MTL 50 film camera, where I processed everything from the film to the photograph and even the hand cutting of the photographic paper. It will also have slightly larger digital photographs on exhibit including 2 colour photographs and 2 black and white photographs.

All these photographs were taken out in the open landscape in the places where I spend a lot of my time gathering information for my painting.
