Dance Party: Soul in the Horn Brooklyn Museum
9 pm
Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
Celebrate the opening of our special exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power with Soul in the Horn, New York City’s favorite dance party bringing together horn-infused music by world renowned DJs and legendary musicians. Taking inspiration from cities represented within the exhibition—Chicago, Oakland, Los Angeles, New York, and throughout the South—Soul in the Horn creates a sonic experience that reflects these key sites of creative production from the 1960s through the 1980s. The evening features DJ sets by Natasha Diggs, DJ Spinna, and Stutz McGee, and live music by instrumentalists Lakecia Benjamin, Casey Benjamin, and Kenyatta Beasley on horns. (Join us earlier in the day for a symposium in connection with Soul of a Nation.)
Tickets are $20 in advance (Member tickets are $15); $25 at the door. Not a Member? Join today!
