MIMMO ROTELLA Décollages e retro d’affiches Mimmo Rotella

The exhibition represents the first detailed survey on the initial activity of Mimmo Rotella (Catanzaro, 1918 - Milan, 2006), and multi-talented artist known for his invention of décollage, an art form he designed and built from the early fifties. His experiments led him to reformulate the Poster advertising in any possible way. A simple manifest in his hands becomes starting units for the study on the appearance of matter in contact with the canvas, building block for the construction of an imaginary abstract and finally study of the form going to build up on the back of the poster, by the action of the hill and rusts.
