The exhibition “Common Field: UNFOLDS” proposes a shared exploration of memory and materiality — an approach in which the works signed by Sergiu Chihaia, Sorin Dan Cojocaru, Mirela Ivanciu, Mircea Modreanu, Răzvan Neagoe, Alina Tudor and Silvia Trăistaru converge within a common conceptual field, each maintaining its own aesthetic and visual identity. The connection between the invited artists is not merely biographical, but a constitutive element of the “common field.” Pre-existing research and the exchange of ideas create a framework that allows difference to coexist. The exhibition thus becomes a meeting space — an open structure in which the works communicate through thematic echoes and material resonances. The concept of a “common field” can be theoretically understood in relation to Rosalind Krauss’s notion of the “expanded field” of sculpture, where artistic practice is conceived not as a fixed category, but as a network of relationships and positions. Similarly, this exhibition does not aim to homogenize discourses; rather, it places distinct practices in tension, allowing them to coexist within a shared conceptual matrix. The field thus becomes a relational space, a territory of intersections in which difference is not annulled but amplified. Memory is understood as sedimentation and transformation, materiality as a carrier of time, and internal structures as spaces of tension between fragility and coherence. Together, the artists construct a field in which differences articulate themselves within a network of relations, and communion becomes the invisible infrastructure of an authentic artistic dialogue.
Sergiu Chihaia, a graduate of the National University of Arts Bucharest, is currently a tenured lecturer in the Fashion Department at the same institution. He lives and works in Bucharest. He participates in national and international exhibitions (Bucharest, Constanța, London and Venice). His works are included in private collections in England, Italy and Romania. In 2014 he received the UAP Award for Decorative Arts – Textile within the project Arts in Bucharest, 5th edition. He is a sculptor, textile artist and designer, combining these practices and often assuming the role of scenographer. The artist reconstructs the history of the world as if it were a stage — a space of display for human dramas, joys and triumphs.

Razvan Neagoe is a visual artist based in Bucharest whose practice explores the relationship between memory, space and image. His works develop at the intersection of photography and painting, using overlay, fragmentation and intervention as strategies of visual construction. Photography functions as working material, subjected to processes of rewriting and layering rather than serving as a final result. The project Overlays (2022) marks a central direction in his artistic research, later expanded in solo and group exhibitions. Since 2024 he has collaborated with Ars Monitor Gallery, where he presented the exhibition Sinegrafia. His practice has been presented in various international contexts, including biennials, art fairs and exhibitions across Europe, shaping a coherent visual discourse on space as a carrier of memory.
